Since its conception in 1854, the Otis Elevator Company has continued to maintain its ability to adapt to the times. With the company’s founder, Elisha Otis, having been the pioneer behind the world’s first-ever safety break and first-ever passenger elevator, innovation has always been a top priority with us. Continuing to endeavour in this fashion, we introduced the state-of-the-art Otis ONE technology.
The Otis ONE technology serves as the Otis Internet of Things platform. The system aims to collect and build up on data banks via data analytics, providing us with predictive algorithms and thereby improving the overall performance of our systems
The technology utilises several methods of doing so, including:
- Connected Sensors
Our sensors gather data on elevator components and passenger traffic to build up elevator profiles and make recommendations for up-time. Our monitoring systems keep a continuous check of the elevator equipment so that we may be able to pre-empt issues and retain a predictive maintenance schedule to keep things on track. The system does this by issuing monthly equipment health reports.
2. Intelligent Learning
The system is equipped with technology capable of memorising patterns in order to develop sophisticated algorithms allowing devices to adjust in real time. Furthermore, the system maintains performance information that tracks usage per floor on a 24/7 basis.
3. Predictive Maintenance
Utilising big data analytics of over 30+ years from over 300,000 connected units has provided us with a database of accurate trends and algorithms. These algorithms help indicate when elevator health falls below a certain degree and is in need of servicing.
The Otis ONE system is designed to adapt through the use of cloud connectivity and machine learning, and we aim to only improve its functionality and the user experience as it continues to evolve.
